Russula viridofusca Grund.
Cap 5-12cm across, broadly convex then depressed at disc, margin tuberculate-striate; dive-green to ochre-brown, usually darker at center; viscid when wet, dull when dry; peels up to halfway. Gills close; pale yellow. Stem 45-85 x 18-25mm; white, bruising bright rust-brown when injured. Flesh firm; white bruising brown. Odor not distinctive. Taste mild. Spores ovoid, 10-13 x 8-10µ; warts up to lµ, high, isolated. Deposit cream (B). Habitat under hemlock. Found in Washington State. Season September-October. Edibility not known. |
